Learning Objectives
• Identify the curricular strategies that currently prepare students for continuing competence
• Identify specific curricular tools that could be employed as part of a strategy to address the issue of continued competence
• Link state or provincial licensing requirements with continuing practitioner competence
• Develop new strategies for preparing students to maintain continued competence throughout their professional careers
• Develop an individual plan to incorporate specific new strategies into curricula that address the issue of continued competence and accountability to their profession and the public
Educators have a responsibility to students, the profession, and the public to ensure that students are competent when they graduate. What assurances are there that they will remain competent, and continue to climb the competency ladder to expert? This workshop explores innovative curricular strategies to ensure continued competence and lifelong learning.
