Description
Blood management for patients undergoing cardiac surgery, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support (ECMO) or resuscitation after trauma is complex. Algorithms integrating near-patient coagulation monitoring as a guide for blood transfusion have the potential to both improve patient outcomes and reduce blood transfusion. During this session, speakers will address methodologies and interpretation of near-patient testing, important parameters to consider in developing a management algorithm and the results of published studies and their own experiences. The speakers chosen for this session have both practical and research experience in the sphere of transfusion support that they will address. An interactive panel discussion will occur after the three presentations.
