Description
Traditionally the main goal of blood centers has been to get donors in the door. With the advent of patient blood management and other industry changes, this goal has changed slightly. It is more about getting the "right" donor in the door at the "right" time. This includes figuring out what is the optimal collection procedure for the donor's blood type. Do we use apheresis or whole blood collections? Do we want to collect platelet products or should we add a concurrent plasma or RBC? This program will discuss innovative strategies and recruiting tools used to make available products meet the demand for transfusion.
-
Determine how to educate donors and staff for verifying the needs and how best to use the precious gift that they are donating.
-
Discuss strategies for recruiting the "right" donor based on transfusion needs.
-
Review the different collection technologies and how these platforms help collect the needed products based on ABO and Rh.
