Description
Applying the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services billing and coding rules to manual and automated billing for transfusion service can be challenging. The best way to bill depends on the particular circumstances, products used and billing software. This session will provide an overview of inpatient and outpatient billing and review changes in billing for 2012. In addition, speakers will describe appropriate billing and coding for transfusion medicine-related physician services including apheresis, difficult crossmatches and special products. Audience members will have the opportunity to practice selecting appropriate codes and to have their billing questions answered.
