Description
There are many new discoveries made every year in the field of blood groups as they are related to transfusion and aspects of finding compatible blood. This program will provide up-to-date information about new blood group alleles, antigens and testing protocols and will address issues relating to blood transfusion and screening for compatible blood in each of the blood group systems presented in this program.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
- Describe the effect of X-borne GATA-1 mutations on blood group antigen expression.
- Discover new molecular practices and implications for safe blood transfusions.
- Discover the blood group carrier protein structure and function.
- Discuss new findings in each of the blood group systems.
