Description
The ICMS represents physicians performing autologous cellular therapy procedures. These treatments are increasingly performed in the clinical settings of orthopedics, cosmetic surgery and cardiology and in wound healing. This session will review current practices including the collection of lipoaspirate and bone marrow, the preparation of adipose stromal vascular fraction, the isolation of mesenchymal stromal cells, and the use of platelet-rich plasma for these and other novel disease treatments. The session will conclude with a review of patient outcomes and future directions.
LEARNER OUTCOMES:
-
Discuss current methods of laboratory processing and common techniques for cell preparation.
-
Discuss the current regulatory environment and the International Cellular Medicine Society (ICMS) and AABB approach to setting standards and providing accreditation in this industry.
-
Provide general information about the state of regenerative medicine worldwide and the various conditions currently being evaluated and treated. Share and evaluate patient outcomes for cardiac conditions, chronic limb ischemia, diabetic ulcers and wound healing and cosmetic surgery patients.
-
Review diseases, medical conditions and cosmetic procedures that incorporate autologous cellular therapies as part of the medical treatment.
