Description
The path to achieving the licensure of the first unrelated cord units was significant and historical. While the first-year anniversary of licensure has not yet been realized, the impact has been felt by the entire unrelated-donor cord blood banking industry. This presentation details the operational, quality, regulatory and financial impacts realized by the first cord blood bank to achieve licensure, the New York Blood Center National Cord Blood Program at the Howard P. Milstein Cord Blood Center. Key operational changes, as presented by the National Marrow Donor Program, operating the Be the Match unrelated-donor cord blood registry, will provide the registry perspective related to the facilitation of licensed cord blood units for transplantation.
Michael Zdanowski did not consent to presentation capturing and recording.
