Transfusion Medicine Questions Online Databank
Description
A recent survey of medical school administrators (Karp et al. Transfusion 2011) demonstrated a clear need to "focus on improving and standardizing undergraduate medical education in transfusion medicine." Novel technology-based approaches have the potential to significantly improve medical education including transfusion medicine training. An overview of these approaches and the evidence that they improve learning will be presented. Specific examples from transfusion medicine education will then be provided, including the process of designing and evaluating transfusion medicine online teaching modules (http://orbcon.transfusionontario.org/bloodyeasy/) and a transfusion medicine questions online databank (http://transmedquestions.com).
-
Describe how novel technology-based approaches are being used in medical education and the evidence for benefit.
-
