Lawrence Goodnough, MD, Professor of Pathology and Medicine
Jesse Ehrenfeld, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology & Biomedical Informatics, Vanderbilt University
Description
How can point-of-care testing be used to promote optimal and efficient use of blood products? The growing evidence of adverse effects of RBC transfusions amplifies the need to test for coagulopathic bleeding in real time. This session will discuss new point-of-care technologies and ideas for implementation in clinical settings such as cardiovascular surgery and trauma.
-
Describe new, evolving technologies: rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) and thromboelastograph analysis (TEG).
