Description
The key to successful disaster recovery is recognition of the elements required for restoration of service and data integrity. The speakers in this session will define disaster types, address the steps needed to proactively ensure preparedness against unexpected loss and investigate processes and settings that encompass a solid plan of disaster recovery for return to a normal or near-normal state. Speakers will utilize a systems approach to developing an incorporated and practiced plan that will help to safeguard a facility's ability to restore services, and assess data integrity and validate the recovery process after interruption of electronic services. One presentation will discuss how the speaker's facility developed and maintains a backup system, including requirements, goals and refresh and revalidation protocols. Also addressed will be medical issues and disaster types not typically imagined in FMEA, including hospital shut-down. In small groups, the speakers will aid participants with asking themselves the significant questions when preparing test scripts for various disaster types.
