Description
This interactive session will poll the audience to determine how they would manage a given clinical scenario. The first topic will address current postnatal testing practices for Rh-negative women. The second topic will present a few scenarios of pregnant patients with unusual antibodies, with particular regard to transfusion support planning for both mother and infant. The final topic will address the scenario of a high-risk obstetrical patient who requires hospitalization for weeks prior to delivery, and the optimal transfusion support for such a patient.

Construct a proposal regarding the required frequency of pretransfusion testing in a high-risk obstetric patient on bedrest within a hospital.

Discuss management of pregnant women with unusual antibodies.

Review current state of postnatal testing and management algorithms, comparing obstetrical guidelines with transfusion medicine guidelines.
