Description
This program will launch a focus on the various antibodies that react with the antigens of the different blood group systems. For the inaugural presentation, there will be an in-depth scientific review of what makes an antibody clinically significant. Additional information will be presented on how this affects transfusion practice in areas such as transfusion reactions, emergency release prior to complete problem resolution, lack of antigen-negative donor units, and HDFN. This information will then be applied in a detailed review of the antibodies that react with the antigens of the Duffy system.
-
List three characteristics associated with a clinically significant alloantibody.
-
Name three clinically important antibodies associated with antigens of the Duffy blood group system.
-
Write a policy plan describing management of patients with clinically significant alloantibodies when antigen-negative red cell donor units are unavailable.
