Developing a blood management program
Description
The goal of a patient blood management program is to optimize patient outcomes with strategies that reduce or avoid allogeneic transfusions and ensure the appropriateness of administrating blood components and products when needed. Hospitals and blood centers are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of patient blood management and blood conservation programs in improving patient care, managing scarce resources, and reducing financial costs associated with blood transfusion. This program will provide participants practical information on how to launch a blood management program. Speakers will provide a roadmap for implementing a program and will share their experiences including successes and challenges with implementing a patient blood management program.
