New Technology for Patient Transfusion Safety
Description
Advancing transfusion safety requires developing a focus on systems that enhance the transfusion process, ensuring positive identification from specimen collection through blood administration. Electronic systems to advance blood safety are available; however, adoption has been slow. Given the recent focus on use of electronic systems in all aspects of health care to improve patient outcomes, it is inevitable that these systems will grow in use in transfusion. This session will present current options for enhancing safety of blood administration as well as evolving options.
