Using Special Methods in IRL Testing,
Description
Special challenges exist for those working in an Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL). This program will examine some of the key issues unique to laboratories performing higher level serological testing. Results of a survey conducted prior to the meeting will allow attendees to benchmark their laboratory against similar facilities.
Strategies will be provided to better ensure proper test performance as well as address regulatory requirements with a focus on the specialized tests where it is difficult to obtain control material.
Critical topics from IRLs, as identified from survey responses, will be discussed in brief presentations by experts in the field as well as audience discussion.
-
Benchmark testing practices and policies of a participant's laboratory against familiar facilities.
-
Describe strategies for managing tests without known control material.
-
Identify critical issues in the IRL and discuss their impact.
