Description
Solid organ transplantation can be complicated by rejection of the allograft. The therapeutic apheresis procedures of photopheresis and plasma exchange have been used to treat cellular and humoral rejection, respectively. This session will review the use of photopheresis and plasma exchange in the treatment of solid organ rejection.

- Assess the evidence that supports the use of therapeutic apheresis in the treatment of solid organ rejection.
- Describe the role of therapeutic apheresis in the treatment of rejection compared to other treatment modalities.
- Review the role of photopheresis in the treatment of cellular rejection in solid organ transplantation and the role of plasma exchange in the treatment of humoral rejection in solid organ transplantation.
