This event will be focused on how to build a successful research career in transfusion medicine. Varies funding mechanisms will be reviewed by a very resourceful senior government official. A highly accomplished basic science researcher will give his perspective on how to utilize different funding mechanisms and how to develop a successful basic science research career path in transfusion medicine. This will be followed by an established transfusion medicine physician and researcher who will give his advice on how to perform patient-oriented research and his strategies on mentoring trainees. After the formal presentation, there will be a period of Q&A as well as open discussion.
