Description
This interactive session will focus on the currently ongoing National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored Pilot Study of the Collection of H1N1 Plasma, involving multiple donor centers across the United States. Participants will receive an overview of study, including its goals and objectives, and an update of the study's status. Participants will also learn about the critical role of blood bank and donor center personnel in the development of the study protocol as well as the regulatory, quality and management issues involving the collection, preparation, storage, and transport of this novel product. Finally, speakers from three different types of donor centers will discuss their own processes and challenges in implementing this study at their own sites. This session is a must for anyone interested in learning more about this exciting study as well as those who want to understand the preparation and resources needed to participate in such a study.
