Alloimmunization and its challenges for transfusion management
Description
This session will focus on advances, challenges or controversies in transfusion practice. The session is interactive and will be facilitated by audience response technology to integrate audience participation with the presentations.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Describe the appropriate indications and the laboratory challenges to the safe and rapid preparation of cryoprecipitate.
  • Review clinical and laboratory complications of RBC alloimmunization, and approaches for transfusion management.
  • Review controversial or debated issues for medical decision making.
  • Understand platelet function testing and bleeding risk in cardiac and other surgical patients.
