Description
Bacterial contamination of platelet components is one of the most common causes of transfusion-related death in North America. Where are we in the process of addressing this risk factor since the introduction of the AABB Standard to detect and limit bacterial contamination in 2004? This session will give an up-to-date overview of preventive measures, technologies to detect, reduce and/or inactivate bacteria and their effectiveness.
