Description
OBJECTIVES:- Review the immune mechanisms of thrombocytopenia including the therapeutic effect of IVIG in relation to Fc-g receptor IIb and the neonatal Fc receptor.
- Explain the relationship between biological pathways and the function of platelet products in a murine model of thrombocytopenia
- Evaluate the acute phase response to trauma and its effect on neutrophil recruitment and immunogenicity of blood products.
- Correlate an in vitro whole blood transfusion model to the effect of the age of packed red cell transfusions on pro-inflammatory monocyte responses.
