Description
OBJECTIVES:- Contrast rates of residual bacterial contamination of apheresis platelets detected by a commercial rapid test (Verax Pan Genera) before platelet release to patients in a multi-site U.S. study with those detected by culture after 7 days of storage in a Dutch study.
- Quantify the increase in cost-effectiveness of pathogen reduction technology applied to plasma and platelet components after removal of redundant interventions.
- Discuss the results of T. Cruzi lookback studies, including two cases of apparent Chagas transmission via separate platelet donations from a T.Cruzi positive donor.
- Evaluate the evidence for T. Cruzi transmissions via the parasite’s natural vector, so-called autochthonous infections, in the U.S.
