OBJECTIVES:
- Review recent studies on age of platelets and red cells with regard to predictions of recovery and outcomes.
- Explain recent advancements in profiling red blood cells to predict recovery.
- Increase knowledge in the use of transfusion therapy as a modality of supportive therapy for critical HINI patients.
- Apply platelet characteristics to a newer study evaluating increments and HLA alloimmunization in thrombocytopenic patients.
