Description
Frequently, when performance does not meet an organization's expectations, employees are retrained or provided with additional training. Yet, if people are unable or unwilling to perform, even the finest training available will not lead to desired results. Human Performance Technology (HPT) is a way of identifying and resolving problems at their root through three fundamental processes: performance analysis, cause analysis, and intervention selection. This program will review an HPT model, describe interventions drawn from behavioral psychology, organizational development, and human resources management, and share some examples of performance gaps experienced at a blood center that were addressed with training and non-training interventions.

  • Analyze present and desired levels of workplace performance.
  • Identify potential causes of a performance problem or opportunity.
  • Select among training and non-training solutions that improve workplace performance.
