Proficiency Testing for Cell Therapy Labs
Description
Proficiency testing is a concept with which all testing laboratories are familiar. However, when testing is being performed on cellular therapy products, proficiency programs become much more complicated. Measuring properties of live cells presents challenges that do not exist for chemical analytes. Furthermore, the relatively small number of laboratories performing testing of cellular therapy products and the wide array of test methods can make interpreting inter-laboratory comparisons difficult. This audioconference will take a detailed look at the challenges of proficiency testing for cellular therapy laboratories.
-
Define proficiency and competency, graded and educational surveys and compliance issues for cellular therapy (CT) laboratories.
-
Describe elements to consider when establishing a proficiency testing program for various CT product tests such as cell counts, viability, cell types by flow cytometry and endotoxin.
-
Discuss different approaches to establishing a proficiency program for various CT product tests, including obtaining appropriate reference material, challenges of intra-laboratory comparisons and access issues for international facilities.
-
Discuss issues with interpretation of inter-laboratory proficiency testing results and potential solutions.
