Description
Using the Puget Sound Blood center as a case study, this session will explore how a centralized transfusion service is implementing medical software and smart refrigerators located in hospitals to streamline delivery of cross matched units to the patient, reduce turnaround time, and reduce expense for the hospitals and the transfusion service. Experts in transfusion medicine will describe the benefits and challenges of a centralized transfusion service and discuss how they are revolutionizing the delivery of cross matched blood from the blood center to the hospital and to the patient. Information technology professionals will describe how the technology was selected and implemented. Learn how the Puget Sound Blood Center is transforming the delivery of blood components to patients and what the future holds.
