Finding the Right Product Code and Other Pesky Issues
Description
This workshop will address ISBT 128 labeling issues typically found in small transfusion services. Topics will include the selection of reimbursement codes, finding the right ISBT 128 product code, and labeling of pediatric aliquots, reconstituted red cells, thawed plasma, and pooled products. Changes to the US Consensus Standard for the Uniform Labeling of Blood and Blood Components will be discussed. The session will describe training tools for laboratory and nursing staff. Significant time will be provided for questions and answers.
