Three topics will be presented during this session: 1) TRALI mitigation and the return of redirected donors, 2) transfusion safety programs and blood centers--trials and tribulations and 3) clinical and blood product support of massive transfusion protocols. This program is interactive with the audience responding to questions during the presentations.

  • Discuss strategies a blood center may use to minimize the risk of TRALI in recipients and maximize redirected donor return.
  • Identify the key elements in developing a successful transfusion safety program for your clients.
  • Recognize the level of support needed to supply new massive transfusion protocols at multiple hospital sites.
