Description
This session will offer information on the use of apheresis treatments in solid organ transplantation. It will provide an evidence based approach to identifying transplant settings where apheresis therapies are indicated, and will also provide practical suggestions on minimizing, identifying, and treating complications of apheresis procedures in the transplant recipient.

LEARNER OUTCOMES:
  • Discuss assessment of clinical and laboratory parameters in transplant patients receiving apheresis treatments.
  • Discuss potential complications of apheresis treatments with a focus on minimizing these events.
  • Discuss the indications of plasmapheresis and photopheresis in the prophylaxis and treatment of allograft rejection.
  • Understand the expanding role of apheresis technologies in the area of solid organ transplantation
