The session will involve lectures by international experts, who will provide the latest information about three emerging infections that threaten the safety of the blood supply.
- Describe the current status of testing blood donors for Babesia microti infection.
- Determine the risk of transfusion-transmitted dengue virus infection and approaches to ameliorate the risk.
- Discuss Q fever, its routes of transmission, and its potential threat to blood safety in selected countries.
