Description
Because of the rapid movement of molecular genotyping into the field of transfusion medicine, AABB recently published Standards for Molecular Testing for Red Cell, Platelet and Neutrophil Antigens along with the accompanying guidance document. Members of the Molecular Testing Standards Program Unit will discuss some of the key issues in the new Standards and provide guidance that may be of particular interest for laboratories setting up genotyping. Such topics will include qualifications for supervisors and lab directors, facilities environment, DNA resources, patient/donor consent, assay validation and controls, etc.
-
Describe the concepts in the Guidance to the Standards for Molecular Testing for Red Cell, Platelet, and Neutrophil Antigens.
-
Introduce the 1st edition of Standards for Molecular Testing for Red Cell, Platelet, and Neutrophil Antigens.
-
Review ways to implement the new requirements set forth by the Standards
