DESCRIPTION
The award winner will discuss the meaning of professionalism in transfusion medicine and its fundamental importance to how we play our role in the care of patients. In addition, he will present on how professionlism is integral to the establishment of quality culture. He will also discuss the establishment of such a culture in a transfusion medicine organization.
This award began as a lectureship in 1963 and was designated as a Memorial Award in 1983. The award commemorates Emily Cooley, the dedicated and beloved medical technologist whose work contributed to an increased understanding of hematology technology. The award recipient demonstrates teaching ablility in technical aspects of immunohematology.
