DESCRIPTION
The Blood and Marrow Transplant clinical Trials Network (BMT CTN), funed jointly by NHLBI and NCI, was established in 2001 to conduct meritorious studies in transplantation. Seven BMT CTN trials are currently open for accrual with additional studies nearing activation. This session will focus on tw studies evaluation optimal graft sources for unrelated donor transplantation. The first is an open-label, randomized comparison of unrelated donor bone marrow versus peripheral blood stem cells. The second is an open-label, randomized comparison of single verses double cord blood unit transplantation in children and young adults. The rationale, design and status of each trial will be presented for discussion.
