DESCRIPTION
During fiscal years 2003 to 2005, Memorial Blood Centers increased its collections from 85,000 units to 117,000 units. A remarkable jump for a blood center established in its community for over 50 years, this increase was the result of a multi-faceted approach to blood collections that included strategies based in the three perspectives of corporate relations, donor recruitment and marketing & communications. Working together, these groups formulated plans and executed tactics to bring Memorial Blood Centers to a new level of blood collection. This presentation will evaluate the differences between high-growth and sustained collections theory and practice, recount the successes and challenges Memorial Blood Centers has experienced and speak to what lies ahead for this ambitious organization.
