Value stream mapping is one of the tools that is used in applying Lean to business operations and driving significant operational change. Value stream maps (VSMs) provide a visual of all of the activities, information, and supporting systems that are required to move the raw materials through a process. During this workshop, participants will be provided an introduction to and application of value stream mapping, examples of VSM construction in transfusion services and donor centers, how VSMs identify Lean and/or Six Sigma project opportunities, examples of results achieved with VSMs and a case study will be developed during the practical application segment of the program.
