DESCRIPTION
Internal auditing or assessing often serves as the best proactive tool for identification of system/process problems and can provide a plethora of process improvement projects. But designing system or process audits can be time-consuming and tedious. The Tracing method employs a wide-scope measurement across multiple processes and systems and, applied to internal audits, will give a broad overview of compliance to accreditation standards. The presenters will demonstrate the use of the AABB Assessment Tools to design an internal Tracer audit and will review one example each of a Tracer audit in a Transfusion Service and a Donor Center. The Tracing method is an approach endorsed by professional quality auditors and provides a solid foundation for a constant state of inspection preparedness.
