DESCRIPTION
This session will provide information about modern approaches to the management of patients with autoimmune cytopenias, especially autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA) and immune thrombocytopenia. These will include the use of rituximab, other immunosuppressive drugs, and novel therapeutic agents, as well as the the role of high-dose chemotherapy and hematopoietic cell transplantation in autoimmune disorders. Also, a guide to transfusion of patients with AIHA will be provided.
