Description
Systematic observations can play a key role in recognizing potential in young children (K-3). Early recognition of potential is an essential first step in addressing the needs of young children with high abilities and is a critical first step in nurturing potential of children from culturally/linguistically diverse and economically disadvantaged families. This session will explore the differences between early recognition of potential and early formal identification; looking at the role of systematic teacher observations in recognizing and responding to children's needs.
