Description
The English Language Arts Common Core Standards present the national vision of what defines a literate person in the 21st century by outlining competencies to ensure that all high school graduates are college and career ready in literacy. How will these expectations for all students affect what we offer gifted learners? In what ways should educators adapt the Standards to meet the needs of the gifted? This session focuses on the English Language Arts standards, primarily those for reading literature and informational text. The presenters propose a process for examining current literature curricula for gifted learners and incorporating the new standards.
