As part of a statewide Earth Day celebration, gifted students at Glasgow Middle School participated in Exxon Mobil's Science Challenge. Competition centered on the creation of lessons/demonstrations to educate younger students about waste reduction issues. Projects focused on the 3 R's: reduce, reuse, recycle. The gifted site coordinator, science teacher, and Exxon engineer, who was project liaison, shares details about the design/implementation of the project and share perspectives, successes, and lessons learned. Video evidence of student work, student/teacher reflections, ideas about applicability to similar projects, and changes in student attitudes relative to environmental issues are included.
