Description
Dr. John Feldhusen was a pioneering figure in the field of gifted education. He was a scholar and a gentleman who dedicated his life to finding better ways to identify and nurture gifted and talented children. John served the field of gifted education as a researcher, teacher, and a leader. He joined the faculty at Purdue University as an associate professor in 1962 and founded the Gifted Education Resource Institute there in 1978. His contributions to the university were recognized by the School of Education Best Teacher Award, appointment as the Robert B. Kane Distinguished Professor of Education, and an Honorary Doctorate. His contributions to NAGC included service as President of the organization and Editor of Gifted Child Quarterly, and were recognized by the Distinguished Scholar award, the Distinguished Service award, and the Isaacs Founders Award. He was also active in the World Council for Gifted Children, serving as president and editor of Gifted and Talented International. John’s dedication to pursuing a better life for gifted children all over the world were an inspiration to all who knew him.
