Robert was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of EarthQuake Media, an integrated media solutions company, in February 2001. In this position, he is responsible for driving the company's long-term strategy and leading its efforts in media integration.
Before joining EarthQuake, Robert was the Director of International Broadcast Services for Yahoo, where he developed and implemented the Internet broadcast business model in 24 countries outside the United States. At Yahoo, Robert served as a company evangelist, consulted with customers such as Intel, NY Life Insurance Company, Avantel, and Columbia TriStar films about their integrated strategies and counseled senior management at Yahoo on how to sustain the business long term in their local countries.
Prior to Yahoo, Robert was Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Technology for Broadcast.com. At Broadcast, he developed the sales strategies and revenue models for the startup. He also built the sales forces for the three major departments inherent to Broadcast.com's business. Robert was responsible for forecasting and achieving the company's sales goals, which eventually lead to a groundbreaking IPO. He was also responsible for evangelizing to advertisers and marketers such as J. Walter Thompson and BBDO on how to integrate the technology into their advertising plans.
Before joining Broadcast.com, Robert was a sports specialist for the Florida Marlins Radio Network, where he sold comprehensive sports marketing packages for the baseball broadcasts. Some of the major clients he worked with were Fina Oil Company, Allstate Insurance and The Trane Company.
At the beginning of his career, Robert was very entrepreneurial and started his own music management company, Steady Premonition. He represented several artists, for whom he helped secure major label recording contracts, and promoted numerous concerts in the New York City area.
Robert is also actively involved in community affairs. He teaches a course in arts and entertainment to high school seniors as a volunteer in the Junior Achievement program, the nationally renowned initiative that brings real-life business experience and guidance into the classroom to help students make informed, intelligent decisions about their future. Robert himself was a student in a Junior Achievement class in high school, and sees his volunteer work for JA as a way of giving something back to a program that he found to be extremely beneficial to his later entrance into the business world.
