"Bill Michel is an independent marketing consultant with extensive general management, marketing, merchandising and financial planning experience with industry leading, specialty retail brands – Harry & David and Eddie Bauer. His 25+ years of experience have focused on improving profitability through brand development and customer relationship marketing. He is recognized for the ability to provide integrated marketing that is measurable, effective and sustainable.
Mr. Michel was with Harry and David Holdings from 2002 to 2006 where he was General Manager for Direct Marketing, a $400 million, multi-brand division of this industry-leading gourmet gift retailer. He was accountable for marketing and merchandising for catalog, internet and corporate sales channels. During his time at the company, Mr. Michel implemented business solutions that resulted in record improvement in customer response, sales and gross profit. Mr. Michel was a member of the executive team responsible for sale of the company to Wasserstein & Co. LP, a private equity firm.
Prior to joining Harry and David, Mr. Michel was an executive at Eddie Bauer for over twenty years helping transform the company from a $60 million outdoor apparel regional retailer to a $2 billion lifestyle brand. As a member of the Executive Cabinet and Senior Vice President for Marketing, Mr. Michel was responsible for corporate and divisional marketing for this multi-concept brand. Mr. Michel also held positions in strategic planning, merchandising, systems development, catalog circulation, new customer acquisition, retail marketing and customer loyalty program development. At every level of the organization, Mr. Michel established new standards for industry leading best practices. The company was a division of a leading global company where Mr. Michel designed and implemented the corporate standard for multi-channel marketing.
Mr. Michel received his B.S. in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley."
