Advances in drug research and treatment require us to be mindful of the proper handling techniques necessary to remain safe on the job. This program will provide a look at the 2004 NIOSH Alert and how to keep laundry and environmental services staff safe from exposure to hazardous drugs. Participants of this session will discuss the safety concerns laundry managers and environmental services professionals face related to employee exposure to hazardous drugs in the healthcare environment, differentiate between the regulatory and recommended compliance for safety handle of linens exposure to hazardous drugs, identify the steps of recommended methodologies for safe handle linens exposed to hazardous drugs, and walk away with a plan to partner with clinicians to assure thorough communication and identification of potentially exposed materials.
