Description
Green Chemistry Network Centre (GCNC) established under the recommendation of a panel of world leaders headed by Professor Paul Anastas (known as father of Green Chemistry) is working for the incorporation of the principles of green chemistry in the laboratory and the classroom and eventually the industry in India. This presentation will describe the following initiatives taken by the centre:

• Building a Network.

• Preparing and disseminating the educational materials on Green Chemistry.

• Designing trainings not just to expose the chemists to the concepts, principles and methodologies of Green Chemistry but also to empower them to bring this new knowledge back to their institution or industries.

Prof. R.K. Sharma, Coordinator of GCNC is a member of the committee that was constituted by DST (Govt. of India) for the preparation of monograph on Green Chemistry Experiments for undergraduate and post graduate courses. Recently, GCNC has published a monograph for the undergraduate and post graduate classes. Forewords for this monograph were written by Professor Paul Anastas and this was released by Professor John C. Warner in Indo-US Workshop on Green Chemistry organized by GCNC.

In addition to this GCNC is designing and organizing various International and National Green Chemistry Workshops and other activities in India for the incorporation of Green Chemistry into laboratories of educational  research institutes and industries. Recently GCNC organized an Indo-US Industrial Green Chemistry Workshop in Mumbai.
