Ecofriendly green synthesis antimicrobial and antispermatogenic activity of organosilicon, organogermanium and organotin complexes

Description
In modern chemistry microwave synthesis represents one of the important dimensions. The main advantage of microwave heating is a considerable saving in energy. New series of triphenylsilicon chloride, triphenylgermanium chloride and triphenyltin chloride with biologically potent ligands were synthesized under microwave irradiation using a domestic oven. The reaction time was brought down from hours to a few seconds with improved yield as compared with conventional heating. The compounds were screened in vitro against bacteria and fungi to test their antimicrobial property and in vivo in male albino rats to test their antifertility property. The antibacterial activity maximizes for the organotin complexes in line with other studies in this area although the activity of all the compounds is reasonable. The antifungal properties of all the compounds are broadly excellent and far exceed the level for the ligand. The influence of the metal is most clearly visible in this area. The weights of testis, epididymis, seminal vesicle and ventral prostrate were significantly decreased in the treated male rats when compared with the control group. The blood and serum parameters were within a normal range, indicating the non-toxicity of the compounds on general body metabolism. Biochemical parameters of tissues showed significant reduction. The results reflect the antispermatogenic effects of the synthesized compounds in male rats without affecting general body metabolism. The findings will be discussed in details.
